WSO Receives MCACA Grant

Michigan Council for Arts and Cultural AffairsThe Warren Symphony Orchestra has been awarded a $6,000 grant from the Michigan Council for Arts and Cultural Affairs.  The grant will go toward WSO’s general operations and  also fund various outreach projects.

“The WSO is grateful for the ongoing support of MCACA,” said WSO Society President, Myrle Hughes,  “This grant will be used to defray the ongoing costs of bringing an orchestra of quality to the City of Warren and Macomb County.   It will make if possible for the WSO to continue our engagement with the youth of the region, including our Youth Concert scheduled for late April, where we will use Tchaikowsk’s Peter and the Wolf as a vehicle to introduce them to the various orchestra instruments.”

“The communities receiving these awards gain so much more than their dollar value,” said John Bracey, Executive Director of MCACA. “These grants enhance education, stimulate cultural tourism, and strengthen communities statewide by impacting local economies and creating a better quality of life.”

Thank you, MCACA!
